Fall Internship and Research Symposium Submission Instructions

Note to Presenters: You can set up your poster in Ballroom A either on Thursday between 3:00 and 4:30 pm or on Friday between 2:15 and 3:00 pm. Mounting materials will be provided. Light refreshments will be available in Ballroom A. PLEASE bring a water bottle or other reusable cup.

The Fall Internship and Research Symposium (FIReS) abstract submission page is now directly linked to the ValpoScholar website for publication! ValpoScholar serves as the central exchange for outstanding scholarship and creative work from faculty and students as well as university records and campus history. Your work will be stored here permanently, so you can provide the link to family, friends, and future employers to show them your work.

Step 1

When you click on the link below, you will be prompted to create an account in ValpoScholar. You will need to provide your email address and a password.

Step 2

Once you have created an account, the link will take you directly to the FIReS abstract submission form. Please review your abstract with your faculty mentor(s) before you submit it for presentation at FIReS. In addition to your abstract of 250 or fewer words, you will need to have the following information available:

Title of project;
Name(s) of the author(s);
Primary contact name and email;
Faculty mentor name and email;
Name of the college and department/program associated with the project;
Biographical information about the author(s) — 75 or fewer words;
Oral or poster presentation (oral presentations will be 15 min + 5 min for questions);
Primary file or link to your primary file for your presentation (if necessary, you can login later to revise your submission and include this file). NOTE: some FIReS poster presentations will be tabletop posters, so be sure your poster is no larger than 36″ high and 48″ wide.

Step 3

Once you have completed the abstract submission form, be sure to scroll all the way to the bottom of the page and click “Submit”. IF YOU HAVE SUCCESSFULLY SUBMITTED YOUR ABSTRACT, YOU WILL RECEIVE A CONFIRMATION EMAIL. IF YOU DO NOT RECEIVE THIS EMAIL, PLEASE RE-SUBMIT YOUR ABSTRACT

Step 4

A few weeks after FIReS, your presentation will be published in a permanent archive of Valpo work.
