Founded in 1776 at the College of William and Mary in Virginia, The Phi Beta Kappa Society honors academic excellence and outstanding scholarly achievement in the liberal arts and sciences. Installed on April 1, 2004, Eta of Indiana Chapter at Valparaiso University became the 269th chapter of The Phi Beta Kappa Society.
