Clinical Assistant Professor

About

Professor Gass joined the faculty of the College of Nursing and Health Professions in 2023, and she teaches in the undergraduate nursing program. A Valpo native, she earned both her BSN and MSN in Nursing Education from Valparaiso University. Her clinical nursing experience is primarily in acute care telemetry, neurology, and medical-surgical settings in Chicago and Northwest Indiana, and she also has experience in outpatient cardiology. In the academic setting, Professor Gass has collaborated with senior faculty members, Dr. Julie Brandy and Dr. Theresa Kessler, on qualitative research about depression in college freshmen, the findings of which have been presented at conferences hosted by Sigma International Nursing Research Congress, Midwest Nursing Research Society, and the American Psychiatric Nurses Association. In 2020, the CONHP faculty awarded her the Freda S. Scales Award for demonstrating bold thinking and a willingness to embrace new and innovative approaches to nursing education. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and serves on the board of the Zeta Epsilon chapter.
