About Our Accounting Degrees

All College of Business majors begin with two core groups of courses:

The major requirements for a bachelor’s degree ensure students have a thorough grounding in accounting and quantitative methods.

ACC 311	Intermediate Financial Accounting II	3 Cr.
ACC 315	Accounting Information Systems	3 Cr.
ACC 320	Cost Accounting	3 Cr.
ACC 350	Concepts of Taxation I	3 Cr.
ACC 411	Advanced Accounting	3 Cr.
ACC 413	Auditing and Assurance Services	3 Cr.
Total:		21 Cr.

Free Electives (Note 1): The credit count for free electives varies based on 3 or 4 credit classes chosen in General Education requirements. Students must reach 124 Cr. to graduate.

One Course From the Following Options:
ACC 316	Governmental and Not-For-Profit, Accounting	3 Cr.
ACC 412	Concepts of Taxation II	3 Cr.
SCM 330	Enterprise Resource Planning Systems	3 Cr.

International Business Requirement

One Course From the Following Options:
FIN 430	International Finance	3 Cr.
MGT 440	Cross-Cultural Management, Perspectives	3 Cr.
MKT 430	International Marketing	3 Cr.

Practical Experience

In addition to the required courses outlined below, each student in the program is required to complete one of the following:

A Cooperative Education experience combining full-time professional, paid work experience with academic coursework, or
An Internship

CPA Requirements

150 Credits Needed To Sit For CPA Exam

Pathways to earn the credits required for the CPA exam:

Add a double major or minors to your accounting degree to reach 150 credit hours.
Join Valpo’s flexible, online or in-person, 36 credit hour, 1-year MBA program.
