The June 2014 issue of “Langmuir” featured the work of Andrew Richter, Ph.D., as the cover article. “Langmuir” is a highly-ranked journal in the area of polymers, particles, and surfaces, and is published by the American Chemical Society.

Professor Richter was a co-author of the article, which reports on a new, simple, and inexpensive way to create polymer nanocapsules using widely-available chemicals (surfactants) to form vesicle templates. Professor Richter and his co-workers have been studying these nanocapsules for the past five years using a different fabrication method. The new method promises to open up the process to more labs, including — eventually — industrial producers. These polymer nanocapsules can be used in a wide variety of areas, ranging from catalysis to drug delivery and disease diagnosis.
