Understanding each step in the financial aid process is key to receiving the support you need. From submitting your FAFSA to maintaining eligibility, we’re here to guide you through every requirement with clarity and ease.

How to Apply

To be considered for any type of scholarship and financial awards from Valpo, you must apply and be admitted to Valparaiso University. Apply for Admission

To be considered for federal and state financial aid, including loans, you must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year. If you have not already, the student and parent will need to create a StudentAid.gov account at to electronically sign the FAFSA at studentaid.gov. Our school code is 001842.

Application Criteria

Generally, aid recipients at Valparaiso University must:

Have a high school diploma or its recognized equivalent
Be degree-seeking, and making satisfactory academic progress.
Be enrolled full-time (at least 12 credits per semester) for most aid programs.
Be enrolled at least half-time (6 credits per semester) for certain federal loans and other programs.
Be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or eligible non-citizen.
Not be in default on a federal loan, owe a refund, or be in repayment on any federal or state program.
