About the Chapel of the Resurrection

Centered in Christ, the Ministry of the Chapel of the Resurrection proclaims God’s love and serves students, faculty, staff by building an inclusive community. As a ministry in an academic setting, we seek a collaborative life together in our commitment to Jesus Christ. Throgh Worship and the Arts, we proclaim God’s Word, offer our talents and gifts, and receive forgiveness, life, and salvation. Through Spiritual Formation and Empowerment for Service, we teach and learn together, mentor toward leadership, serve our neighbor, and practice faith. Through a Lutheran Character and an Ecumenical Context, we bear witness to the theology of the cross and embrace a diverse community. Through Hospitality and Stewardship, we extend God’s welcome and care to all people and tend to that which is entrusted to us.

Pray with Us

Many people who have worshiped with us remember this litany, which is a regularly prayed as part of Morning Prayer at the Chapel of the Resurrection.

This litany is based on the seven capital sins. It was written in 1959, and since that year it has been recited every Friday at noon before the Altar of Reconciliation in the sanctuary of England’s old Coventry Cathedral.

Prayer of the Community

L All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. The hatred that divides nation from nation, race from race, class from class,

L The covetous desires of people and nations to possess what is not their own.

L The greed which exploits the work of human hands and lays waste the earth.

L Our envy of the welfare and happiness of others,

L Our indifference to the plight of the imprisoned, the homeless, the refugee,
