Academic Depth and Breadth
Undergraduate arts and science degree programs in the College of Arts and Sciences introduce students to multiple ways of understanding the world before developing more advanced skills in a particular area of study.
Each college major and minor degree plan offered by the College of Arts and Sciences is composed of these two parts.
The major field of study is a discipline or thematically related group of courses that the student chooses in order to pursue depth of knowledge and competence in the skills required for the study of a particular area of knowledge. Pursuit of the major moves the student toward mastery of analytical skills introduced by general-education courses. The College of Arts and Sciences offers more than 40 majors.
