Legislative Advocacy in Action

Every year students and faculty from Valpo’s social work department travel to Indianapolis for LEAD Day, (Legislative Education and Advocacy). During LEAD Day social work professionals, students, and educators gather to share stories, explain the political process, identify issues critical to social work practice, and provide examples of social workers advocating on those issues. Then, students head to the Indiana Statehouse to actively create change by engaging legislators directly and observe the General Assembly in action.
