The Beacon

The Beacon is Valparaiso University’s annual yearbook, where students work together to produce a book that best represents our campus community for that year. At the Beacon, students can pursue opportunities in photography, graphic design, and copywriting. Working both individually and as a team provides opportunities to grow communication skills while gaining valuable experience producing a yearbook where our Valpo memories live on.

The Lighter

The Lighter is the University’s literary and arts magazine that captures imaginative works by students across campus. Any student who is interested in publishing their poem, prose, or art only needs to submit their work for review. Students can also get involved by joining The Lighter staff as a graphic designers, editors, and more. The magazine is released twice a year, once each semester, and distributed for free. This is one of the best ways for students from all departments to come together and create a piece of their own Valpo legacy.

The Torch

The Torch weekly student newspaper covers events on and off campus. Students from every degree program are encouraged to get involved. The publication offers paid writing, editing, photography, and editing opportunities as well as editorial staff positions for experienced participants interested in a leadership role.
