Three Valpo engineering students have earned scholarships from Tau Beta Pi, the world\u2019s largest engineering society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Louis Christensen \u201916<\/strong>, South Milwaukee, Wis., is a mechanical engineering major. He is a recipient of the presidential scholarship and is involved with Valpo\u2019s competitive ballroom dance club, a social fraternity, and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Through Tau Beta Pi, Louis works with students in different engineering disciplines to encourage the study of engineering and make the College of Engineering a more inclusive environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Seth Strelow \u201917<\/strong>, from Osakis, Minn., majors in civil engineering and Spanish. In addition to the Tau Beta Pi scholarship, he is also a recipient of the Valpo\u2019s presidential scholarship and the AGC Foundation Scholarship. He is president of Valpo\u2019s chapter of Engineers Without Borders and co-captain of the American Society of Civil Engineers Steel Bridge Competition team for the student chapter. Seth says he enjoys being connected through Tau Beta Pi to other engineers at Valpo and across the country who share the same value of education and dedication to the engineering discipline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Justin Szaday \u201916<\/strong>, of La Porte, Ind., is a computer engineering major with a mathematics minor. He is also a recipient of the Herman and Helen Hesse Endowed Scholarship, which was established in 1973 and supports the Hesse Learning Resource Center. Justin is involved with undergraduate research and says he enjoys Tau Beta Pi\u2019s service events and coordinating other events for the College of Engineering.
