About
Biography
Professor Samis-Smith joined the College of Nursing and Health Professions faculty in 2017 and teaches in the undergraduate health science and healthcare leadership programs. She holds a master’s degree in clinical exercise physiology from Indiana University, in addition to a master’s degree in sports management from Valparaiso University. She completed her doctorate in health education from A.T. Still University. Professor Samis-Smith previously served as an adjunct professor at Prairie State College where she taught fitness assessment and exercise program design. She was also a community outreach specialist in the healthcare industry.
Professor Samis-Smith’s area of expertise is health and well-being and she is published in Research Directs in Health Science and Research Directs Psychology and Behavior. She currently serves on the Valparaiso YMCA Foundation Board of Directors.
Professor Samis-Smith has an enthusiasm for exercise and is a licensed high school soccer official.
