Studying Abroad at Valpo

Valparaiso University has a three-year residency requirement. All undergraduate students are expected to reside in campus housing for six (6) semesters.  More information about The Terms and Conditions for University Housing can be found HERE.

Students planning on going abroad will need to be accepted into and commit to a program prior to canceling their housing.

Navigating Housing While Studying Abroad

Fall Semester: Students who will be off-campus on a University recognized program for the Fall semester must cancel their housing with the University via Housing Self-Service by the designated day. If students intend to return to campus housing for the Spring semester they should indicate on the cancellation form that they wish to have their housing deposit (if applicable) transferred to the upcoming Spring semester.

Spring Semester: Students who will be off-campus on a University recognized program for the Spring semester must cancel their housing with the University via Housing Self-Service by the designated day. If students intend to return to on-campus housing for the Fall semester of the following academic year, they should indicate on the cancellation form that they wish to have their housing deposit (if applicable) transferred to the upcoming Fall semester.

Fall Semester Study Abroad Policies and Process

Students will receive an appointment time to select a room based on your total credit hours. Appointment times will be visible on your Housing Self-Service. Room selection will occur later that week and you will then select a space for the upcoming Spring from available spaces.

If you have a roommate request, you must select a roommate prior to selecting a room. There are several ways to request a roommate.
