Valpo is home to 19 NCAA Division I teams, a dynamic coed spirit squad. Athletes, fans, and spirit leaders all come together in a proud tradition that’s truly unforgettable. Beyond varsity athletics, you’ll find club sport teams and a competitive esports program that competes nationally. Valpo has 17 NCAA Division I programs, offering student-athletes numerous avenues to showcase their talent in athletic competition and plenty of excitement for sports fans. Women have the opportunity to compete as varsity athletes in basketball, bowling, cross country, golf, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, track & field, and volleyball. Varsity athletics for men include baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, swimming, and track & field.

Cheerleaders and Dance

The Valparaiso University cheerleading program consists of a co-ed squad. Cheerleaders and the dance team create and promote spirit for Valpo games and events.

The Light

You can be part of Division I athletics by cheering on your Beacons in the student section, The Light. Join the Beacons, the Pep Band, the dance team, the cheerleaders, and the rest of the Valpo community at your favorite sporting events.

The Light consists of many of our most loyal and passionate fans. These students show incredible support for their fellow students, creating an energetic game day environment and elevating the overall game day experience.

Compete with your friends, floormates, and classmates in one of the many intramural leagues and competitions. With men’s, women’s, and coed competitions in team and individual categories, more than half of Valpo students participate in intramurals to stay fit and make friends.
